Room

The book that we are currently working on is Room by Emma Donoghue. The paperback can be purchased for about $11. We will have a discussion meeting scheduled shortly!
Here's a quick summary, followed by links to Amazon and Barnes&Noble:

"To five-year-old-Jack, Room is the world. . . . It's where he was born, it's where he and his Ma eat and sleep and play and learn. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.
Room is home to Jack, but to Ma it's the prison where she has been held for seven years. Through her fierce love for her son, she has created a life for him in this eleven-by-eleven-foot space. But with Jack's curiosity building alongside her own desperation, she knows that Room cannot contain either much longer.
Room is a tale at once shocking, riveting, exhilarating--a story of unconquerable love in harrowing circumstances, and of the diamond-hard bond between a mother and her child."

Meeting!!

Hey everyone!
The calendar is pretty packed for the next few weeks, but we managed to schedule a meeting for Tuesday, January 31. The good news is that this now gives you an extra TWO entire weeks to read the book! As usual, it'll be in Madame's room during Senior High Lunch. We will be discussing The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time (which is really a wonderful book), so come armed and ready for verbal combat. Thanks, peeps! We can't wait to see you all!

The Curious Incident....

Our next book will be The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. Clicking on the book title will direct you to Amazon's page on it - summaries, reader reviews, prices, what not. Or click here to go to Barnes&Noble's page. The library is also a great option! Right now, we are thinking of scheduling the discussion meeting for the second week after we get back from Christmas break. The vacation should give you all time to pick up/ borrow a copy and read it. So have a great Christmas and don't forget to read!

Meeting!!

Hey! Just letting you know that our first discussion meeting will be held this Wednesday, December 7th in the French room during senior high lunch! We will have a brief discussion about Graceling and then move on to decide what book we will be doing next, which we will post on here in case you can't make it to the meeting. So check back on Thursday or something to find out what book we'll be reading over Christmas break! That's all for now. See you Wednesday!

Our First Book...

So our first book is going to be Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I know that a few of us have read it already (no spoilers, cassie!), so maybe those priveleged people (if they own the book) can lend the book out to other members? The library is always a good option, too! And for those who want to buy it or to see a summary of it, the amazon link is in the comments! Enjoy : )
